August 2012 launch report

On Sunday, August 26, MASA held its regular monthly launch at the sod fields near Nowthen. It was a beautiful day for flying rockets!  The morning started out cloudy, with a low ~900 foot cloud ceiling.  By about 11am, the clouds were breaking up and the ceiling lifting.

Theme:  Scale Rockets

Special Events:

14th Annual Great UFO Drag Race

Three fliers participated in this annual drag race - Alan Estenson, Neal Higgins, and Stuart Lenz.  They put a total of 6 saucers on the pads, and 5 of them launched.

11th Annual Comanche-3 Drag Race

Three fliers participated in this annual drag race - Alan Estenson (C11-0, B6-0, B6-6), Neal Higgins (D12-0, B6-0, A8-5), and Ron Wirth (D12-0, C6-0, B6-6).  All stages lit, and all three flew successfully with recovery of all parts!

3rd Annual Back To School Crayon Drag Race

Two fliers participated in this annual drag race - Alan Estenson and Neal Higgins

Thanks to everyone who helped set up and tear down the launch range.
