April 2014 launch report

On Saturday, April 26th, MASA held its second launch of 2014.

This launch was held at the Elk River / Otsego VFW Fields.

A few of the flights:

MASA members - please send in your thoughts about the launch!

Michael Farrell writes:

Not much of a morning for rocketry, breezy and chilly, but a few hardy souls made it out and got a fair number of flights up. Neal set us up at the East edge of the field. I had 8 good flights and tried out the new Estes 29mm BP motors. There were some long westward retrieval walks (and one drive) and a couple casualties; I'm curious to know if Neal got his treed Goblin^2 back. Hoping for better May weather and a return to Nowthen...

Neal Higgins writes:

I managed to get in 10 flights despite the winds and temps. 2 flights were unstable (I guess micromaxx rockets shouldn't be flown in strong winds). With help from Dave Whitaker I was able to get most of my Square Goblin out of the tree. The nose cone and chute are still in the tree.

We had 2 guests at the launch (Ron and Veronica Chick). Veronica picked out a FITI rocket and had 2 very nice flights with it. I think we will see them again at future launches. It was very nice meeting you two and I will keep you on my email list.
